One thing leads to another, as they say and when Ammi met Dr Priscillia Miard of the Night Spotting Project (NSP) in 2019, she was delighted to learn that many of the nocturnal animals featured by NSP can be found on Penang Island. A year and a half later, Ammi had the opportunity to collaborate with Dr Priscillia to paint these night creatures, especially the Sunda Colugo, which led to the publication of this book, Into the Night, Gliding. This book relates Ammi’s adventures to learn about the Sunda Colugo. Through Ammi’s illustrations, you too can travel with her on her night adventures through forests and hills and running rivers. You will also learn more about the colugo and its habitat. By combining art and scientific research, Ammi hopes this effort will contribute to the conservation of unique nocturnal species. Through drawing colugos and other nocturnal creatures, Ammi hopes to capture their beauty and mystery and also convey respect for their habitats and raise awareness for their protection. Such artistic endeavours not only showcase the wonders of nature but also inspire care and understanding of the natural world among people.
